Everything You Need to Know about Scholarships!

Did you know that in 2020-21, almost 11,500 students were awarded $26.3 million in scholarships and bursaries, including $10.4 million in need-based awards?!

While some entrance scholarships are automatically awarded to students based solely upon their admission average, there are other awards that do require an application for consideration.

Every year, 11 of Canada’s future leaders who choose to attend the University of Guelph are awarded scholarships worth $42,500 each. To be considered you must apply online by January 25, 2022 at 4:00 pm (EST), which is approaching fast!

Here is a breakdown of those scholarships:

The President’s Scholarships

  • Nine scholarships awarded
  • Admission averages of at least 90%
  • Made significant leadership contributions to their schools and communities

The Lincoln Alexander Chancellor’s Scholarships

  • Two scholarships awarded
  • Admission averages of at least 90%
  • Made significant leadership contributions to their schools and communities
  • Identify as an Indigenous person, a person with a disability, and/or a BIPOC student

Each of these scholarships include a $9,500 stipend for a summer research assistantship position after first year. This assistantship provides an opportunity to work with a U of G faculty member and is a valuable learning experience.

Students who submit this application will automatically be considered for an Academic Leadership Entrance Scholarship – up to 35 awards valued at $20,000.

Good luck Future Gryphons!
