What attracted you to the University of Guelph?

The beautiful campus, welcoming community, great food, and my program of interest!

What attracted you to your program at U of G?

I am hoping to pursue a career in law, and was attracted to a program that focused on both sociology and politics rather than one subject.

What is something COOL that you’ve learned from your program/studies so far?

Being a little bit of a political structure geek, I was very interested to learn about the structure of Canadian courts and how cases make their way to the Supreme Court of Canada.

What has been (or is) your favorite course in your program?

Surprisingly, my first Research Methods course was a lot of fun. The professor was incredible, and every lecture left me feeling motivated, empowered, and inspired.

What are you most excited about this year?

I’m really excited about my linguistics and leadership courses, as these are topics that I find very interesting. The assignments in my leadership course give me a lot of freedom to create something meaningful to me. For example, I will be interviewing a Residence Manager I work with in Student Housing to learn more about his leadership style.

What are your (current) post-graduate plans, or goals?

I am hoping to attend law school, but have begun considering continuing my studies in Sociology as a Masters Student.

Best piece of advice you wish you could have given yourself in Grade 12.

Professors are so much cooler than high school teachers make them out to be. My statistics professor had a full Storm Trooper costume in his office, while my Social Deviance professor invited my whole class (more than 200 students) to visit him in his office every single week. While professors won’t email to ask why your assignment is late, they do genuinely want to see their students succeed and are so much more helpful than I ever expected.

#FunFact About Yourself.

I backpacked Europe for 6 weeks this summer!
