Black Heritage Month
Black Heritage Month

February is Black History Month, and even though we aren’t all able to be on campus for it this year, several groups and organizations across the U of G community such are coming together to educate and celebrate virtually this year.

The Guelph Black Heritage Society (GBHS), the Guelph Black Students’ Association (GBSA), the University of Guelph’s Cultural Diversity Office (CDO) within the Department of Student Experience, collectively decided to place the focus for the 2021 events on Black Heritage, and because of the virtual nature of this year’s events, anyone can participate – even if you’re not officially a Gryphon yet!*

Some of the highlights of events planned for the next several weeks include an anti-black racism workshop, an Afro-Caribbean cooking class, and a Caribbean dance class.

To learn more about the events, as well as the various organizing groups, visit our student events website, GryphLife!

*Some events may require registration, or that participants are members of the BIPOC community.
