Right now, the world is living in an unprecedented time. Due to the uncertainty and change in how the University of Guelph will function this year, we have had an increase in questions about deferring offers of admission.

Here is some important information to consider regarding deferring offers:

Deferrals Last an Entire Year

When you choose to defer your offer of admission it means that you will be unable to take any courses at the U of G or any other post-secondary institution during that deferral period. If you were hoping to still take a course or two in the fall 2020 semester, studying part-time is a good option for you.

Part-time Option

If you still want to attend the U of G this fall, you can choose to study part-time instead of deferring until next year. Taking fewer than 2.00 credits per semester makes you a part-time student (courses are typically worth 0.50 credits each).

There is no additional application required for studying part-time, you will just select fewer courses during course selection. The best part is you will be able to start experiencing your life as a Gryphon this fall!

Nothing Is Set in Stone

The University of Guelph prides itself on keeping up to date with the development of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. We made the decision to provide Fall 2020 courses in a more virtual way to ensure we are keeping our Gryphons safe.

As we receive more updates and recommendations from the government and public health, we will begin to make decisions about the 2021 winter semester.

We Are Here for You

We are committed to supporting you throughout your journey as a Gryphon. We have many programs and resources that you can take advantage of to talk to other students in the same situation as you.
