At the University of Guelph, we know that the best way to learn something is to experience it. That is why we offer many different experiential learning opportunities across all our degrees.

Here are some interesting facts about Experiential Learning:

Build Your Skills

The experiential learning opportunities are a great chance to apply your in-class learning in a simulated or real workplace. This helps you gain experience and develop skills that future employers consider essential for a new hire. The experiences can also help to build out your resume and prepare you to start applying in your field.

Networking

When you take advantage of experiential learning, you will have opportunities to meet people that are working in your field or industry. They can give advice, mentor you and provide valuable insight into the work you will be doing. These professional connections are an asset as you make the transition into the workforce.

See the World

Many of our programs offer chances to study in countries around the world. These opportunities not only allow you to explore the Earth, but also give you a unique perspective on how different countries address similar problems. The U of G also has many field courses to give you chances to do hands-on learning in real workplaces.

Develop Your Passions

By working in simulated or real workplaces you can get a better sense of the type of work you will be doing in certain careers. This can help you discover what you are passionate about, and what specific discipline you want to pursue. By having this experience, you will have a better understanding of your career and continuing education goals.
