A UoG Building

Our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program is perfect for students who have a passion for animals and want to transition that passion into a career. You will study at the famed Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) which is located right on the University of Guelph campus.

Here are some interesting facts about the DVM program:

It’s One of the Best Programs in the World!

Our DVM program is ranked #1 in Canada, #3 in North American and #7 in the world thanks to our amazing curriculum, facilities and faculty.

So Many Possibilities

When you are studying at the OVC you will be given the tools and knowledge to allow you to choose the type of veterinarian work you are passionate about. We prepare you for careers in small and large animal medicine, but also in fields like government service, teaching, research and industry.

A Tight-Knit Community

With the DVM program being such a specialized program, your peers and faculty are guaranteed to be just as driven as you! The student community is open and caring, as demonstrated by the numerous vet-associated clubs. If you decide to attend the University of Guelph for your undergrad before applying to the OVC, you’ll have the opportunity to join The Future Vets Club. This club hosts info sessions, helps students find volunteer placements and offers support and guidance to undergraduate students intending to apply to vet school!

New and Rejuvenated Facilities

Back in 2016 the OVC received $23 million to create a new building and renovate the companion animal hospital. Now the buildings are close to being finished just in time for you to take advantage of them!

Students Love the Program

DVM students love the many career possibilities that are open to them. One of our students Janice loves the opportunities that the many OVC related clubs offer; from the Diagnostic Imaging Club to the Surgery Club!
