Fact Friday – Episode 7: Fill Out the SPF!

Posted: Friday, April 21, 2017 - 06:00

If you haven’t submitted your Student Profile Form (SPF) yet, what’s stopping you? In this edition of Fact Friday, we’ll tell you exactly what you need to know about this valuable addition to your application at UofG!

Fact #1: You Only Get Once Chance!

Did you know that you can only fill out the SPF once? With that in mind, we think it’s important to make sure you’ve got all of your information ready when you sit down to complete and submit the form. You can preview the SPF before completing it, allowing you a chance to craft and spell check all of your answers.

Fact #2: Get Your References Ready

The last section of the SPF is for you to provide references who can be contacted to verify the information you provide on the SPF. You’ll need one school reference (i.e. a teacher, guidance counsellor or principal), and one community references (i.e. a coach, mentor, etc).

Fact #3: Know Your Numbers

Your OUAC ID (11 digits) and your University of Guelph ID (7 digits) are both required.

Not sure where to find them? They’ll be in the email that you received after you applied to U of G!

Fact #4: Tell us the good, the bad, and anything else you think we should know

When we review the SPF’s during the final round of offers, we’ll be looking to see what sets students apart – volunteer and extra-curricular interests and activities, awards, honours and awards are all great things to include.

But what if there’s things, that aren’t quite so lovely, that have directly impacted your academic performance? There’s room to include all of that, too, and it will be taken into consideration should your admission average fall within a few percentages below the program cut-off.

Fact #5: Our May 1 Deadline is Firm

Unfortunately, we will not be able to process any SPF’s after the May 1 deadline (in fact, the form will disappear after May 1!).
