International Financial Support

In 2020, we awarded $2 million to undergraduate international students! The University of Guelph offers a range of financial aid programs for international students, including scholarships, bursaries and Work Study.

Entrance Scholarships

International Entrance Scholarships

Awarded on a competitive basis to new students entering their first semester. You must have a complete admission file by the final document deadline of March 1, 2022 to be considered. Eligible students will be notified through their offer of admission.

No scholarship application required.

(Merit-Based Visa Students)

Students offered an International Entrance Scholarship will automatically be awarded renewable amounts if the below criteria is met:

  1. Recipients must remain registered in full-time studies and achieve a minimum 80.0% average in their previous academic year of full-time study (typically fall/winter).
  2. Recipients must continue to pay the International student tuition and fees.

No scholarship application required.

The Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship - $42,000

Awarded to a top international student who is entering with a record of academic excellence who has made significant leadership contributions to their school and community. The total value of the scholarship is $42,000 ($8,250 annually for four years of study, plus one $9,000 stipend for a summer research assistantship position after first year).

Scholarship application required: Due January 25, 2022.

International Academic Leadership Entrance Scholarships - $20,000 each (10 awarded)

Ten Academic Leadership Entrance Scholarships are also awarded to the top International Students who have applied for the Vaccarino President’s Scholarship but were not selected. Each award is valued at $20,000.

Application to the Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship is required for consideration: Due January 25, 2022.

International In-course Scholarships

Students must complete one full year of studies at U of G to be considered for in-course scholarships. 

International In-course Bursary

Bursaries are given to students who apply and demonstrate a financial shortfall in their study period budget; budgets include all financial resources against the cost of attendance for the study period. Academic achievement is not a consideration when awarding bursaries, however students must be registered in an academic term to receive a bursary.
