The growing field of Engineering systems and Computing fuses computer science with electrical engineering to design modern solutions for the technological industry. You’ll focus on the science and tools behind designing, constructing, implementing and maintaining software and hardware components of modern computing systems in your career and studies.
Students in the Engineering Systems and Computing ESC program may also be interested in studying Biological Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other majors.

Design, Implement and Develop Solutions
Develop computer systems that are crucial to everything from aircraft to the human body. Explore a unique mix of software development, computing hardware design, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics, control and modelling.
Choose Your Area of Focus
Choose from elective concentrations in the areas of control systems, biomedical, robotics, mechatronics, embedded systems, internet of things, software-hardware systems, and human-centered computing. In upper years, choose one or more streams: mechatronics, robotics, embedded systems, biomedical, or computing – then pursue a career to match!

Hear From An Engineering Systems and Computing Student
I chose Engineering Systems and Computing because I wanted to know how everything worked together as opposed to individual parts. The ES&C program taught me both the hardware and software aspects of computers, in addition to other crucial topics such as mechanics and thermodynamics. Guelph, as a whole, taught me how to problem solve effectively, and how to work in a group dynamic through several design courses and group projects. All these elements helped me secure a job immediately after graduation as an IT operations engineer.
