Why Sociology?
The Sociology program will equip you with the skills to understand how society operates locally and globally. Gain insight into the cause of and solutions to inequality and inequity through a combination of theoretical and hands-on work. As a Sociology major, you'll be prepared to critically analyze and evaluate information in order to address diverse social and political issues.
Students in the Sociology SOC program may also be interested in studying Anthropology, Criminal Justice and Public Policy, Political Science, Psychology, International Development Studies, Family Studies and Human Development, Child Studies, or other majors.

Make Positive Social Change
Better Understand and Improve Society
Learn how to assess, conduct, and use research on the topics of inequality, diversity, culture, work, violence, health, media and more to effect positive change in society.
Tackle Modern Societal Issues
Identify influences and behaviours that can enact meaningful change to tackle our society's most pressing issues. You’ll consider society from diverse perspectives and identify influences and behaviours that address power imbalances leading toward inclusive, equity-seeking solutions.
Go Beyond the Classroom
Put theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills into practice through participating in experiential learning opportunities such as co-op, fields schools or study abroad programs.
