We’re number one! The University of Guelph saw the highest jump in applications among Ontario universities this year.
Applications to the University of Guelph and the University of Guelph-Humber are up 6.4 per cent, almost six times higher than the average within the application system.
Overall there was a 22 per cent jump in the number of students who selected Guelph as their first choice.
The increase in application numbers represents a look at applications to date for 2009.
“It’s a testament to the strength of our reputation and our incredible faculty and staff,” said Maureen Mancuso, vice president (academic).
The rise in applications can be attributed to Guelph’s consistent high ranking among Canadian universities. Guelph was ranked as one of the greenest campuses in the country and has won the award for the best on-campus food for seven years running.
Guaranteed residence and specialized seminar programs for first year students as well as being the only university to be awarded an A+ in student satisfaction by the Canadian University Report all contributed to increased applications.
If you haven't applied yet to U of G, you have until March 1, 2009 to be considered for September admission.
